[New] Introduce New Feature: Menu Assignment for Astroid widgets

As you know, Astroid 3.0.12 has recently been released, which came with a new feature "Menu Assignment" for widgets. Today, I would like to talk more about Astroid widgets and menu assignment. Hope you're interested in this new feature.

If you're a fan or a user of Astroid framework, you must have known that a bunch of widgets have been officially introduced since Astroid 3.0.7. Astroid widgets were designed to bring lightweight, and flexible extensions used for displaying content on your pages.

How to add a widget to a layout

At the moment, there are 12 widgets available in the Astroid's library and you can add them to a layout builder with ease. The number of widgets is not fixed because we will continue developing many powerful ones in future versions. Stay tuned for more.

Widget's Menu Assignment

Thanks to the release of Astroid version 3.0.12, you have the possibility of assigning widgets to specific pages, which presents the same function as the module's menu assignment of Joomla. Several pages on a website can share the same layout builder, but not all of them share the same elements. That's the reason why the function of widget assignment becomes so meaningful.

How do you assign a widget to specific pages?

By editing a widget in a layout, you can find 4 main tabs (General settings, Design settings, Responsive settings and Menu Assignment", click on Menu Assignment to choose an option. You can choose between all pages, No pages, or Only on the pages selected.

If you choose to display the widget on the page selected, a list of menu items will appear for you to choose one by one. The menu assignment is only applied to single widgets, not for system elements of the framework like Banner, Component, Message and Module Position.

  • On all pages: the widget will be visible on all pages of your website
  • No pages: the widget will be invisible on all pages
  • Only on the pages selected:  "Menu Selection" will show with all the menu items on. You can assign modules by selecting the menu links that you want the module associated with on what pages modules appear.

This awesome feature is completely worth updating the framework to enjoy it. Why do you hesitate to execute the update process? I'm sure that you'll not be disappointed about this exciting feature.

You can update the component using the single-click updater in Joomla or download the latest package on Github, then install it manually. If you have any problem with the update, feel free to contact us or post your issues HERE
